Prokies in the NFL: Week Six

We are two games from the halfway point in the NFL season and the Prokies are seriously heating up. Toe-tap touchdowns, brotherly competition, and coaching blowouts are on tap this week.

Offense

Duane Brown

The Seahawks had their bye week this past weekend, but Brown still ranks eighth among guards per PFF grades.

Isaiah Ford

Ford recorded no receptions this week, but with Tua just announced as the new starter that could change.

Logan Thomas

LT3 had a fantastic week, recording three receptions for 42 yards and another TD for the once QB turned TE. It was no easy touchdown either!

Defense

Chuck Clark

Clark recorded three tackles this week and a fumble recovery as they held off the Eagles from a comeback to move the Ravens to 5-1. On the season he has 40 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a now a fumble recovery. It is clear Ravens DC Doc Martindale likes Clark in blitz packages as he ranks fifth among safeties in pass rush per PFF.

Terrell Edmunds

Terrell recorded two total tackles in their 38-7 rout against the Browns this past Sunday. He has 23 total tackles on the year including a sack.

Tremaine Edmunds

Tremaine was back on track this week, recording 12 total tackles in their loss against arguably the best offense in the NFL. He has 41 total tackles on the year.

Kyle Fuller

Kyle recorded four total tackles in the Bears win against the Panthers, but that stats don’t do his importance justice. He made a great touchdown saving tackle late in the second quarter. He’s also becoming notoriously the best LEGAL hitter in the league whether the refs like it or not.....

Kendall Fuller

Kendall just has to keep taking the spotlight huh? He recorded another interception this week, putting him at four on the season which is tied for first in the NFL. DISCLAIMER: He missed two weeks and is tied for first. No one is throwing it Kendall’s way either, he is the fourth ranked CB per PFF grades through six weeks.

The Joey Slye Section

Joey was 3-4 this week in their loss to the bears, putting him at 16-18 on the season. He is money from 20-39 yards with a perfect 13-13. and only misses are a 49 yarder and a 55 yarder so far. I’d say he’s….’kicking’ butt!

Bonus Section: Coaching Special!

Former Hokie and Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians made a statement win over the Packers, handing them their first loss on the season. Tampa put up a wild second quarter scoring 28 straight points after being down 10-0 after the first quarter. They added 10 more in the third and closed the game at 38-10 putting the Bucs at 4-2 on the season. Way to go coach!

Injury Report

Tyrod Taylor – Out indefinitely with a punctured lung

Wyatt Teller – Listed as ‘day to day’ with a strained calf (pssst....he's still the number one rated guard in the NFL)

Brett Smith

Welcome to the Terror Dome my fellow Hokies. I am a 2019 graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Agribusiness along with minors in Communication Studies and Entrepreneurship. I come from a Hokie family. My mom, dad, sister, grandfather, uncle, great uncle, two cousins….you get the point, I bleed maroon and orange. I can’t even remember the last time I missed a Virginia Tech football game in person or on TV, laptop, iPhone, or even radio (the 2003 Texas A&M game). I am located in the beautiful small town of Seaford, Virginia working for a coffee company in research and development. In my free time you will see me playing golf, fishing, or playing electric guitar. Yes, I know how to play Enter Sandman. So to my Sons and Daughters of Hokie Nation, START JUMPING!
