Playmaking Safety Noah Jenkins commits to Virginia Tech

Highland Springs Star Noah Jenkins commits to Virginia Tech

Brent Pry and staff have made waves recruiting the state of Virginia, especially the city of Richmond. The newest player to come from that pipeline is electric defensive back Noah Jenkins. Jenkins, a 6”2’, 200lb projected safety can play anywhere in the defensive backfield, and he can stop the run as well as stifle any passes in the middle of the field. He is the 11th ranked player in Virginia, in addition to being the top rated DB in the commonwealth according to Rivals.com.

Jenkins had his pick of high level programs to attend before deciding to lend his pick to Virginia Tech. His offer list included Penn State, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Pitt, VT, and others. His top three before his commitment was PSU, South Carolina, and the Hokies.

He took visits to all of the schools in his top three as well as Miami and UNC.

As previously mentioned, Noah plays for a great program at Highland Springs. Last season, the Springers went undefeated en route to a Class 5 state title.

Jenkins has the tackling ability and aggressive of a safety, but also has elite man-to-man cornerback traits. Jenkins is projected as a safety partly out of necessity, as the Hokies have landed many CB’s in the previous class. Wherever Jenkins slots in, he will bring energy and willingness to tackle and break up pass attempts. He was able to learn from former VT safety Loren Johnson and he can grasp the pageantry of defensive backs at Virginia Tech. Another Hokie great, Macho Harris, played his high school ball at Highland Springs.

Jenkins is another showing of Virginia Tech recruiting masterclass in Richmond. Fontel Mines, WR Coach and offensive recruiting coordinator has the RVA area flocking to the ‘Burg. It is a hotbed of talent and there is no telling how many more talented players will take the path up Interstate-64 to Blacksburg from Richmond.
