10 Minute Tailgate: Marshall

This week the Hokies return to the friendly confines of Lane Stadium to battle Marshall.  With Marshall's mascot being a buffalo, I decided to show you all my favorite wing sauce recipe.  This is special for me, because I was taught it by my grandfather, also a Hokie alum.

The cocktail this week is a Moonshine Old Fashioned.  This is a twist on a traditional Old Fashioned where I added cinnamon moonshine to the recipe, but you at home can add fireball or your favorite cinnamon whiskey to the mix.

I hope you all enjoy the video!

Ingredients:

1 Package  of Chicken wings Divided into Drums and Flats

¾ Cup Crystal Hot Sauce

½ stick butter

¼ cup parmesan Cheese

Ranch or Blue Cheese for serving

Procedure:

After dividing wings into flats and drums, cook wings on grill until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.

As wings are cooking, In a small saucepan, combine hot sauce, butter and parmesan and simmer on medium-low heat until butter melts and parmesan is blended throughout hot sauce. Stir consistently so that sauce will not separate.

When wings are finished, pull off grill into large mixing bowl.

Pour about one half of the Buffalo Sauce mix over the Wings and toss to coat.

Place on Platter and spoon remaining sauce over wings.

Serve with Ranch or Bleu Cheese and Carrots/Celery.

Hokie

I am a 5th Generation Hokie. I have Orange and Maroon blood coursing through my veins. I was lucky enough to attend VT from 1999-2003 and graduated with a history degree. I became a history teacher and football coach working my way to spending multiple seasons as Head Coach at schools in North Carolina and Colorado.

I now live in Colorado, with my wife and son and do what I can to follow the Hokies from afar. The outstanding team here at Sons of Saturday was gracious enough to let me talk some football and be able to impart some my knowledge gained from years spent on the sideline.

Aside from following the Hokies in all sports, I am a fan of the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Braves, and Carolina Hurricanes. I also try to play a lot of golf and enjoy skiing out here in the rockies!
