Andy' Deli Subs and Frootie and the Blowfish

As the Hokies prepare to Kickoff the 2025 season against the University of South Carolina, I am having flashbacks to my younger days.  I grew up minutes outside of Columbia and when ever we would spend any time in the 5 Points area of downtown, the place to go for lunch was already decided before we left. It was Andy's Deli at 2005 Greene St. in Columbia. When you walked through the door you were always greeted with a "Hello My Friend" or "Hello My Dear" and the ambiance in the place was always buzzing.  A perfect mix of business men, blue collar workers, college students, and anyone else who happened to stroll in were always treated to some of the best sandwiches in the midlands.

So for this game, I decided to reach out to Adam Schlon, who now runs Andy's, and he was able to send some of their top selections off the menu out to Colorado so I could show you Hokie fans a little of bit of Columbia!

So if you're ever in Columbia, please stop by 2005 Greene St, Columbia, SC 29205 or give them a call at 803-799-2639.  Also Check out their website www.andysdelicolumbia.com or follow their Instagram https://www.instagram.com/andysdelicolumbia/

For the Drink this week, we are paying tribute to one of USC's more prominent alumni, Hootie and the Blowfish.  I created a drink, based on a John Daly, that infuses peaches into it, tying it into the fact that the Hokies will be playing the Gamecocks in the "Peach State".

Enjoy!  GO HOKIES!

Hokie

I am a 5th Generation Hokie. I have Orange and Maroon blood coursing through my veins. I was lucky enough to attend VT from 1999-2003 and graduated with a history degree. I became a history teacher and football coach working my way to spending multiple seasons as Head Coach at schools in North Carolina and Colorado.

I now live in Colorado, with my wife and son and do what I can to follow the Hokies from afar. The outstanding team here at Sons of Saturday was gracious enough to let me talk some football and be able to impart some my knowledge gained from years spent on the sideline.

Aside from following the Hokies in all sports, I am a fan of the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Braves, and Carolina Hurricanes. I also try to play a lot of golf and enjoy skiing out here in the rockies!
