Week 7

Good morning out there, Hokies! We are back with another Saturday afternoon game as week 10 of the college football season is here. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets travel to Lane Stadium in Blacksburg to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies at 12:30 EST on ESPN3.

Week 9 was the closest game of football the Hokies have been in since a while ago. They fell 22-21 to the NC State Wolfpack while blowing an 18-point lead in the last 15 minutes. Early on, Virginia Tech relied on their defense to keep them in the game, as they didn’t allow the Wolfpack to score a touchdown until the 1:42 mark in the third quarter. Meanwhile, the Tech offense exploded in the third quarter with two rushing touchdowns from Grant Wells and an 80-yard bomb to Kaleb Smith. But after such a strong start to the game last Thursday night, the Hokies' ship started to sink and could not be saved. NC State went on to score 18 unanswered points and went on to win the game by one after the entrance of third-string quarterback MJ Morris. Virginia Tech could not stay away from committing penalties once again, as they had 13 in total, including 10 false starts. Looking ahead to this afternoon, the Hokies need to limit the penalties and attempt the deep balls once again.

The last two weeks of football for Georgia Tech's Yellow Jackets have not treated them nicely. With losses to Virginia and then Florida State, their offense has struggled mightily. More recently, they lost to Florida State, where they went 2-13 on third down conversions. Zach Pyron, the third-string quarterback for GT, took over the reins last week and looks to be the starter once again.

Weather

Temperatures in the low 60's as well as some possible early showers in the early morning. Around gametime looks to be the same so be prepared for some messy weather in Lane Stadium this afternoon.

Born in Chesapeake and raised into a family of hokies, Virginia Tech is where I call home now. Attended New River Community College as a freshman and now a sophomore at VT as a transfer student in Fall 2022. Majoring in Sports Media and Analytics, I’m excited for what’s to come for me as a student at VT.

Virginia Tech sports has always been something I have been a fan of. From afternoons in Lane Stadium to nights in Cassell Coliseum, I have loved every second of it no matter the outcome.

One of my first memories of being a Tech fan was our upset win against Ohio State 35-21 where CB Donovan Riley had the game sealing pick-6. More recently, beating UNC in 6 overtimes, our run to the sweet 16, and of course winning the men’s basketball ACC Championship with upsets over UNC and Duke.
