Week 6

Good morning out there Hokies! We are back with another Saturday afternoon game as week 6 of the college football season is here. The Virginia Tech Hokies travel to Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh to take on the Pitt Panthers at 3:30 est on the ACC Network. Week 5 showed to be another tough week for the team as they lost in blowout fashion 41-10 to the North Carolina Tarheels. Overall, the game for the Hokies was less sloppy than the previous week against West Virginia but we still saw the same struggles that arised from that Thursday night game. Touchdowns have been tough to come by for the Hokies as they have only scored 2 in as many games. This young receiving core is experiencing some growing pains as expected. Kaleb Smith and Keshawn King have shown to be the only players to become reliable for this offense. Wells continues his mediocre play but still has shown flashes of his potential for this team. On the other side of the ball, the defense is just outmatched. Drake Maye and the UNC offense knew exactly how to attack the Virginia Tech defense last week and they did it effectively. Tech looks to find their defensive potential again like they showed against Boston College earlier in the year.

For the Pitt Panthers, after what was seen as a strong start for them thus far into the season, last week's loss against the then 1-3 Georgia Tech Yellowjackets really hurt their potential for this season. The keys to last week's loss for Pitt was losing the turnover battle 0:3 as well as committing 12 penalties. These combined with allowing a season high 232 rushing yards made the game impossible for the Panthers to win. Expect them to clean up their act at home as they look to put themselves in the winners column for ACC play.

Weather

Nothing out of the ordinary for the game this afternoon. Temperatures in the mid 50's with some sun during the game. A great day to play some football!

Born in Chesapeake and raised into a family of hokies, Virginia Tech is where I call home now. Attended New River Community College as a freshman and now a sophomore at VT as a transfer student in Fall 2022. Majoring in Sports Media and Analytics, I’m excited for what’s to come for me as a student at VT.

Virginia Tech sports has always been something I have been a fan of. From afternoons in Lane Stadium to nights in Cassell Coliseum, I have loved every second of it no matter the outcome.

One of my first memories of being a Tech fan was our upset win against Ohio State 35-21 where CB Donovan Riley had the game sealing pick-6. More recently, beating UNC in 6 overtimes, our run to the sweet 16, and of course winning the men’s basketball ACC Championship with upsets over UNC and Duke.
