Week 5: VT vs. Pitt

Good morning Hokies! Week 5 has the Hokies back in Blacksburg after two straight weeks on the road. Pittsburgh will come to Lane Stadium today, squaring off at 8 p.m. on the ACC Network. Today’s game is the annual White Effect, so show some spirit and get decked out in white.

Game Outlook

Both teams are at 1-3, facing some key injuries once again. Grant Wells (ankle) is still questionable after VT Head Coach Brent Pry’s weekly press conference on Tuesday. Pitt could also be down a starting QB, Phil Jurkovec, who suffered a concussion in last week’s 41-24 loss against UNC. Either way, one ACC team is set to break to break a three-game losing streak tonight.

Weather

Fall is here! Tonight’s game should get relatively chilly in Blacksburg compared to the last few, reaching the low 50s. Considering the 8 p.m. kickoff, I’d recommend jeans and a light jacket to stay comfortable throughout the game.

Me Ronnie

Born into a family of Hokies, I can remember watching Frank Beamer and Tyrod Taylor on Saturdays with the family, so attending VT was always the dream.

In 2020, I began my time at Virginia Tech in the Sports Media Analytics program and eventually joined the Sons in January of 2023 as the softball beat writer. Now, I’ve got football, basketball, and baseball coverage, plus you’ll see some of my photographs in articles throughout the website.

Graduation is on the horizon, but I can’t wait to come back in the fall to begin my Master’s and continue working with the team!
