Good Morning Football: Week 9

Good morning Hokies! It feels like ages since we’ve seen a VT football game, but fear not! The Hokies are back in town for a midweek game with Syracuse tonight at 7:30. If you can’t make it in person, tune in on ESPN for all the action.

Game Outlook

Kyron Drones and the Virginia Tech offense seem to improve every week. After a brutal 1-3 start, the team found its stride against Pitt and Wake Forest. They even put up a good fight against No. 4 FSU. Tech has a very real shot at a bowl game if they can win three of the five remaining games. Syracuse (4-3, 0-3 ACC) is a must-win game in the conference. They’re on a three-game losing streak and last place in conference play.

Syracuse seems to be a team that needs to find a groove. If workhorse RB LeQuint Allen can keep the chains moving, the Orange should put up some points. The Tech defense needs to minimize Allen’s effectiveness and hold ‘Cuse down on the scoreboard to get the first of three necessary wins to close out the season.

Weather

We’ve been blessed with a week off from the usual Blacksburg fall, as temperatures will reach the 70s in the early afternoon. By kickoff, temperatures should be comfortable in the 60s.

Me Ronnie

Born into a family of Hokies, I can remember watching Frank Beamer and Tyrod Taylor on Saturdays with the family, so attending VT was always the dream.

In 2020, I began my time at Virginia Tech in the Sports Media Analytics program and eventually joined the Sons in January of 2023 as the softball beat writer. Now, I’ve got football, basketball, and baseball coverage, plus you’ll see some of my photographs in articles throughout the website.

Graduation is on the horizon, but I can’t wait to come back in the fall to begin my Master’s and continue working with the team!
