Physical in-state WR Chanz Wiggins commits to Virginia Tech
Chanz Wiggins picks the Hokies
Virginia Tech wide receivers coach Fontel Mines has had an outstanding offseason landing impact transfers, but he hadn’t landed a high school commitment, until now. Chanz Wiggins is the first wide receiver commit for the Hokies in the 2024 class, and he is a physical freak. Wiggins, a 6”4’ 195lb pass catcher, is a matchup nightmare with an incredible catch radius. He is four-star recruit and ranked as the 5th best player in Virginia by Rivals.com.
Wiggins wasted no time attracting major Power-5 interest. He had offers from Penn State, Pitt, UVA, Maryland, and VT before he started his sophomore season. After his sophomore campaign, he was offered by UNC, West Virginia, and Duke. He announced his top three finalists leading up to his commitment, Maryland, Duke, and Virginia Tech.
He took official visits to all of his top three schools.
Chanz Wiggins helped lead the King George High Wolves to an undefeated regular season record before they fell in OT to Dinwiddie in the playoffs. Wiggins had 36 catches for 515 yards and eight scores. He lined up alongside fellow Wolves wide receiver Mekhai White, who is also being recruited by the Hokies.
Wiggins is a deep threat with blazing speed, as well as being a big, physical target. He is a track star at King George and competed in the state finals this spring. His experience as a safety on defense helps him use his power to be a great downfield blocker to supplement the run game.
Wiggins gives Coach Mines great size and physicality in his WR room. Wiggins has the traits and talent to get playing time early at Lane Stadium.
