VT vs. Campbell | Wednesday, November 15, 6:00 p.m. | Cassell Coliseum, Blacksburg, VA

Final: VT 60, Campbell 44

Tech played just one game this past week against Campbell, taking the win 60-44. Both teams shot atrociously, VT at 38% and Campbell at 27.5%.

Lynn Kidd was the lone star on the court, converting 9-12 FG attempts for 24 points. Kidd was one of two Hokies in double-digit scoring, the other Hunter Cattoor with 12. Kidd added 15 rebounds as he completely overwhelmed Campbell down low.

Cattoor is rapidly closing in on the Virginia Tech 3PT record of 267. He currently has 261 after his four makes on Wednesday. Just six more to tie, seven to take the cake.

Not much to say about this game. It shouldn’t have been this close, but when you don’t make open shots that’s what happens.

This Weeks Takeaways

Kidd should have more opportunities down the stretch to get involved, something this team needs. Having a team capable of swapping from a perimeter focus to the paint is huge. When one isn’t clicking (like Wednesday) you can swap to the other and vice versa. Versatility is key down the stretch, as one-dimensional teams often get shut down.

Me Ronnie

Born into a family of Hokies, I can remember watching Frank Beamer and Tyrod Taylor on Saturdays with the family, so attending VT was always the dream.

In 2020, I began my time at Virginia Tech in the Sports Media Analytics program and eventually joined the Sons in January of 2023 as the softball beat writer. Now, I’ve got football, basketball, and baseball coverage, plus you’ll see some of my photographs in articles throughout the website.

Graduation is on the horizon, but I can’t wait to come back in the fall to begin my Master’s and continue working with the team!
