Virginia Tech Women’s Basketball Weekly Recap
No. 9 Virginia Tech vs. Houston Christian | Thursday, November 16 | Cassell Coliseum, Blacksburg, VA
Final: VT 105, Houston Christian 36
Virginia Tech historically obliterated Houston Christian 105-36 on Thursday, the largest margin in team history at 69 points, and one of four games to reach 105 points in Cassell.
Georgia Amoore took home a personal record as well with 16 assists, the most for a Virginia Tech player in a single game. Her passing paved the way for five other Hokies to reach double figures in scoring, while Amoore herself had 10.
Liz Kitley and Clara Strack formed a devastating duo down low that Tech fans never saw coming. The two combined for 42 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocks in Kenny Brooks' “Supersized” lineup. They looked remarkably similar on the floor, Strack appearing to be Kitley’s freshman self.
This Weeks Takeaways
Strack’s similarities to Kitley should be frightening for opponents down the line. The “Supersize” lineup will most definitely come back to the court. It’s only going to get scarier as Strack continues to develop. She has the potential to follow in her teammate's footsteps and become the next VT center vying for ACC titles. Strack could very well become that same caliber of player in a year's time.
