“You might not ever get rich, but it’s surely better than digging a ditch.” Isn’t that what the song says? For those of you who know that iconic song by Rose Royce, Pat, Bill & I had the chance to work at our own Virginia Tech basketball car wash this past Friday morning, and we can assure y’all that it was certainly better than digging a ditch. First off, we have to thank the Virginia Tech Athletic department for even allowing us the opportunity to chat with five student athletes on a Friday morning. We know how difficult schedules are to coordinate, so we are very appreciative of Justyn Mutts, David N’Guessan, Nahiem Alleyne, Storm Murphy and Keve Aluma’s time.

So what is this “car wash?” Well, basically it’s a quick run down with five of Virginia Tech’s basketball players, what their expectations are for the upcoming season, their team goals, their personal goals, a few rapid fire questions (as always) and what they’re most excited about in the 2021-2022 basketball season. That’s really about it. On Tuesday, Nov 9, Coach Mike Young and the Hokies kick off their season in Cassell Coliseum against the Maine Black Bears. It’s officially year three of the Mike Young era in Blacksburg, and the Sons of Saturday couldn’t be any more excited for it to start. We’ll be following along intently as the season picks up and cannot wait to see what’s in store for this experienced group of guys. Who knows? The experts are even saying we might be the ones cutting down a net of some kind in the spring. I guess only time will tell!
