Thoughts on VT Player Engagement | VT Athletics Updates | National Ag Day CALS Turfgrass Feature!
To honor National Ag Day we are excited to feature Chad Price, Dr. Dan Sandor, and Tyler Morris, three Hokies involved in the turfgrass field and with great perspectives/ties to VT Athletics. Shout out to our friends at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Alumni Organization!
Chad Price is a class of 1987 Agronomy and Crop Science grad alum and former football player at Tech! He is the president of Carolina Green Corporation and works with NFL, MLB, PGA, and College playing fields. He has become known in the industry for developing a specialized playing surface called 'GameOnGrass', a 2" thick sand-based Bermuda grass sod grown on plastic that provides instant playability upon installation.
Dr. Dan Sandor is an assistant professor who guides his students to become turfgrass professionals in the School of Plant and Environmental Sciences.
Tyler Morris is a current VT Turfgrass Undergrad that is also employed with VT Athletics in a full-time position (Athletic Fields Coordinator) primarily as the manager of the baseball and softball facilities.
We had a fun time learning about the “agriculture side” of sports, and are happy to honor those from CALS this week for National Ag Day.
Check out a few fun Twitter snippets from Chad below - including the new GameOnGrass at the VT football practice field.
