Virginia Tech Practice Report + FINAL Thoughts before Hokies @ Cal
Listen
Ryan Castle of the Sons of Saturday podcast delivered his weekly practice report, looking ahead to the Hokies' matchup against Cal. He provided injury updates for both teams. Virginia Tech linebacker George Balance is out for several weeks with a foot injury. Offensive linemen Montavius Cunningham and Brody Meadows were at practice, with Cunningham expected to play. EMTT Law, a defensive tackle, is progressing but still out for Saturday. Wide receivers Luke Stewie and Takai Heath are also working back from injuries.
For Cal, starting quarterback JKS is questionable due to concussion protocol, as is leading rusher Adam Mohamd. Castle also discussed potential offensive line changes for Virginia Tech, with Leif Ganam taking reps at left tackle. He highlighted the defense's focus on creating turnovers and improving communication in the secondary. Castle emphasized the need for Virginia Tech to win the turnover battle and dominate the line of scrimmage against Cal, predicting a 41-7 Hokies victory. He also defended defensive coordinator Brent Pry, citing defensive improvements from last season despite recent struggles.
