2022 RB Ramon Brown, Manchester High School

The Virginia Tech Staff has struck again in their home state of Virginia. This go-around we saw the Hokies pickup a commitment from in-state running back Ramon Brown. The 2022 RB plays at Manchester High School in Midlothian, Virginia. He took to his social media accounts on Friday afternoon to announce his commitment to the Hokies.

At his last camp, Ramon Brown measured in at 5-11 for height and weighing 202 pounds for weight. And for his film, Brown shows to be an elite runner for the offensive side of the field. His natural gift of speed compliments his style of hitting his gaps with determination for his offense. Also, he shows a knack of breaking off of opponents that come in without a full, clean tackle and uses his breakaway speed to hurt opposing defenses. To see a possible backfield of both Ramon Brown and 2021 RB signee Kenji Christian could be a trouble for many defenses in the future.

As of now, Ramon Brown holds a 247 Sports rating of an 0.9247 (4-Star) and is ranked as the 190th player in the nation according to the same site. We could see a future ratings bump for Brown, as he is poised to have quite a senior season for the Manchester Lancers.

The offer to Brown, from the Hokies, came in July of 2019 and finally came full circle two years later. We started to see Brown's recruitment narrow down to five schools in Virginia Tech, Maryland, Penn State, South Carolina, and West Virginia. A great relationship with Cornerbacks Coach Ryan Smith and Running Backs Coach Adam Lechtenberg proved to work well for Brown and his choice to commit. And also, a strong visit showing from the Hokies only made the commitment seem more attractive to the Virginia native. At the end of the day, the Hokies pulled in the 2022 running back, despite attempts of the other schools in Brown's Top 5 to do so.

Ramon Brown now becomes the eighteenth commitment for the Hokie's 2022 Recruiting Class and will be the sixth in-state pickup for the Hokies. He will also become the fifth commit in the month of July, leading an impressive push for the Hokies in recruiting. Welcome Ramon to the Hokie family!
