Week 4: VT at Marshall

Good morning Hokies! Virginia Tech is on the road again, this time in Huntington, WV to battle it out with Marshall University. Kickoff is at noon, with the game being televised on ESPN2.

Game Outlook

Tech’s defense has their work cut out for them with RB Rasheen Ali on Marshall. Containing him is going to be very difficult, but could be the key to shutting down Marshall’s offense. Ali has 222 rushing yards with five touchdowns this year, making him the man to watch for the Thundering Herd.

Hokies QB1 Grant Wells is still listed as questionable heading into the matchup, so Kyron Drones could get the start once again. If Wells does play, it’ll be his first game back in Huntington after transferring to VT for the 2022 season. If Wells doesn’t play, Drones will be getting more valuable experience early in his career.

Me Ronnie

Born into a family of Hokies, I can remember watching Frank Beamer and Tyrod Taylor on Saturdays with the family, so attending VT was always the dream.

In 2020, I began my time at Virginia Tech in the Sports Media Analytics program and eventually joined the Sons in January of 2023 as the softball beat writer. Now, I’ve got football, basketball, and baseball coverage, plus you’ll see some of my photographs in articles throughout the website.

Graduation is on the horizon, but I can’t wait to come back in the fall to begin my Master’s and continue working with the team!
