Week 10: VT at Louisville

Good morning Hokies! Week 10 finds Virginia Tech back on the road to see No. 15 Louisville. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. in Cardinal Stadium and the game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.

Game Outlook

Virginia Tech certainly has their work cut out for them. Louisville is the second ranked team the Hokies have played, both on the road. The Cardinals are 7-1, with an uncharacteristic loss to Pitt two weeks ago. Tech looked great against Syracuse last week, racking up 528 yards for a 28-point win. The defense was lights out, giving up 0 rushing yards and only 137 yards through the air.

Louisville is a very threatening team to play, and this game has big stakes. Tech sits at 3rd in the ACC, while Louisville is in 2nd. A win here means overtaking Louisville in conference play, and potentially a spot in Charlotte at the ACC Championship game. VT doesn’t have a ton to lose here, but everything to gain.

With the team starting to heat up in recent weeks, momentum is important going to Kentucky. The Hokies need to do exactly what they did with Syracuse. Score early, score often, and stop a very talented RB Jawhar Jordan on the ground.

Weather

Temperatures should stay in the low 60s throughout the majority of the game. Expect a light breeze as well. I’d recommend pants and a T-shirt, but consider bringing a light jacket just in case.

Me Ronnie

Born into a family of Hokies, I can remember watching Frank Beamer and Tyrod Taylor on Saturdays with the family, so attending VT was always the dream.

In 2020, I began my time at Virginia Tech in the Sports Media Analytics program and eventually joined the Sons in January of 2023 as the softball beat writer. Now, I’ve got football, basketball, and baseball coverage, plus you’ll see some of my photographs in articles throughout the website.

Graduation is on the horizon, but I can’t wait to come back in the fall to begin my Master’s and continue working with the team!
