Good Morning Football: VT vs Miami
Week 7
Good morning, Hokie Nation! Football is back this afternoon as we are passing the halfway point of the college football season. The Miami Hurricanes travel to Lane Stadium to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies at 12:30 EST on ESPN3. Last week ended in another loss for the Hokies against Pittsburgh, falling 45-29. Overall, the Hokies had a pretty good game despite the loss. Once again, Kaleb Smith showed he is WR1, going for 152 yards receiving. Da’Wain Lofton also had a solid game for Virginia Tech with a 43-yard touchdown catch. Don’t forget the return of Malachi Thomas, who had 15 carries for 84 yards and a TD in last Saturday's game. Look for him to get more carries this afternoon. The Pitt offense tied their season high in points against the VT defense, which has allowed over 30 points in each of their last 3 contests. This afternoon they will be going against an air raid offense in Miami, so let’s hope they bring that lunch pail energy.
The Miami Hurricanes are coming off a close game in which they lost 27-24 to the North Carolina Tar Heels. Tyler Van Dyke had a very strong game a week out from being benched against Middle Tennessee. He went off for 496 yards and 3 touchdowns. Look for him to try and air the ball out against the Hokies.
Weather
Low temperatures are set for the morning but will rise hourly before gametime. The weather for the game will have temperatures in the 70's, perfect for some afternoon football at Lane Stadium.
Effect
This afternoon's game is a Maroon Effect. Be sure to wear your maroon to support the Hokies.
