In the week’s first game, the Hokies played Charlotte on Tuesday to get tuned up. In this one, the big story line was Bre Peck. In her three homer day, she broke two career Virginia Tech records. Bre Peck now holds the program record for career home runs and career RBI, breaking both in the same game. Emma Mazzarone and Emma Lemley both pitched in this one, combining to give up just three runs in the Hokies 12-3 (6 innings) victory. Cori McMillan also had a great day, going 3-4 with a homer and five RBI. Player of the game honors will obviously go to Bre Peck for her legendary day and career.

Shannon Becker also had trouble, getting just four outs on her way to giving up six runs of her own. The Hokies spread out the wealth, with 11 hits coming from nine different batters, with only Cori McMillan and Rachel Castine having multi-hit days. One of Cori McMillan’s hits was a two run shot in the second that gave the Hokies a three run lead. Kylie Aldridge and Zoe Yaeger both had good days as well, having combined for five total RBI.
