We are now seeing the 2022 recruiting cycle pickup in terms of commitments and activity for the Virginia Tech Hokies. And with the Hokies now having three commitments at the time, it is important to look at who may be the next recruits to join the 2022 recruiting class.

Gunner Givens - Lord Botetourt

9419726

The 4-Star offensive tackle out of the Daleville area is having quite an impressive showing with his recruitment. As of now it seems like Gunner Givens is holding off until the late spring or early summer to make his official visits before he makes his final decision. It is looking like currently Virginia Tech, Penn State, and North Carolina are in the driver's seat for Gunner's recruitment after some turbulence came about in Clemson's push for the Virginia native.

Also, we saw Gunner Given's recruiting rating take a small dip over the offseason. This was thought to be due to Gunner playing a lot more reps at the defensive line spots and more muscle mass being gained by the recruit. This is looking to be a battle until the final stretch for this highly-coveted Virginia recruit.

Sherrod Covil Jr - Oscar Smith

9814976

In what was once a quite subtle recruiting process for the 4-Star 757 defensive back, Sherrod Covil Jr's recruitment has skyrocketed after many great performances. Sherrod has put his name on the map and is taking no prisoners in terms of the offers he is receiving. If we had to pinpoint his recruitment to now specifically, we could see that Virginia Tech, Virginia, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Alabama are running his recruitment.

Sherrod also currently has a 247 Crystal Ball Prediction for the Hokies via Evan G Watkins. Although these predictions hold little-to-no long term value, it is still a good sign in the fight for this big time recruit. You will definitely hear more from Sherrod Covil Jr and the Oscar Smith camp before he commits anywhere.

Edwin Kolenge - Clearwater Academy

Kolenge

The Canadian native Edwin Kolenge has been building up a brand for himself in his current tenure at Clearwater Academy in Florida. The ESPN rated 4-Star inside linebacker is looking at narrowing down his recruitment sooner rather than later, with the dead period hopefully coming to an end.

As we look now, in a battle that looked to be majorly Syracuse and Indiana, the Hokies have slipped in and made their voice heard. And with a heavy push from new Linebacker's Coach Jack Tyler, the Hokies might be locking up a commitment from Edwin soon. He even holds a current 247 Crystal Ball Prediction for the Hokies via Evan G Watkins.

Rashaud Pernell - Highland Springs

Rashaud Pernell has been overlooked by many throughout his recruitment, but is still seemingly in the talk for one of the best in the state of Virginia. With his 6-3 220 frame, Pernell looks like a natural at the defensive end position when he suits up for the Springers of Highland Springs.

Currently, the Hokies seem to be in the lead for Rashaud, with holding a 247 Crystal Ball for the Hokies via Evan G Watkins. And with additional push coming from new Hokie's Defensive End's Coach J.C. Price, this one is looking very secure. It is really the Hokie's race to lose in this one with this 804 native.

Paul Hutson - IMG Academy

10223012

Paul Hutson is a perfect example of one of many recruits out of the 757 area that Virginia Tech loves to bring into the program and develop into NFL talent. Paul is currently an ESPN rated 4-Star recruit that is playing his football out of IMG Academy in Florida. And with a pretty impressive 2020 season from the defensive tackle, many fans are looking for a big push in his recruitment.

In terms of who is leading in Paul's recruitment, the only three teams that have seemed to be in the battle are Virginia Tech, Coastal Carolina, and Maryland. All that is certain is that Paul Hutson is all about work ethic and outworking everyone in the room. Keep your eyes on the Virginia Tech staff to make the next big move here.
