The 6-5, 265 pounds offensive lineman visited the Virginia Tech campus on the June 18th visit weekend. His film shows us a solid blocker that utilizes both quick footwork and consistent hand placement on defensive linemen. Vance Vice seemed to want Johnny Garrett to be a Hokie after his visit, and sees the potential in the Boston native. However, it is speculated that Garrett may need to put on some weight before being ready to fill a major role for the Hokies.
Currently we see Johnny Garrett is rated at a 0.8366 (3-Star) according to 247 Sports and also is ranked as the 9th best player out of the state of Massachusetts. Garrett will join the Hokies as the eleventh commitment of the 2022 recruiting class and the sole commit out of Massachusetts.
The 2022 lineman pulled an offer from the Virginia Tech Staff earlier in the month and seemed to stick with the Hokies since. Other schools we saw that entertained the lineman were Boston College, Air Force, and Army.
Welcome Johnny Garrett to the Hokie family, and be on the lookout for more commitments coming this summer!
