Virginia Tech Adds New 3-Star CB Commit
Maryland has proven to provide the Virginia Tech program with a lot of under-the-radar talent. This time, the Hokie’s staff nabs 3-Star talent Mansoor Delane out of Severn, Maryland. The 2022 CB took to his social media accounts on Wednesday afternoon to announce his official decision to become a Hokie.

In his latest round of measurements, Delane came in at 6-1 for height and weighing in at 178 pounds. In terms of film, Delane shows an incredible deal of field vision, which allows him to play to his upmost efficiency. That field vision, also paired with good zone coverage, speed, and aggressiveness makes him a steal for what recruiting sites are putting him at. He shows that he can track down opposing players and wrap up on tackles well to make plays happen for his defense. Seeing Delane paired up with some of the other cornerbacks like DJ Harvey could make a tough defensive back unit for the Hokies.
Currently, Mansoor Delane holds a 247 Sports rating of an .8466 (3-Star) and is ranked as the 28th player out of Maryland. I would not be surprised to see his rating go up, as Delane only had a two game junior season that was cut early due to COVID-19.
The offer from the Hokies to Delane came in January of this year. And for the longest time it seemed like the 2022 CB was slated to stay home and play for the Maryland Terrapins. However, something went in favor for Cornerbacks Coach Ryan Smith and the Hokies Recruiting Staff in which we saw a shift late. Delane narrowed down his final decision to the Hokies and the Terrapins. He then made it official that he would become a Hokie on Wednesday afternoon.
Mansoor will now become the twenty-first commitment of the 2022 Virginia Tech Recruiting Class and the first commit out of the state of Maryland. Make sure to welcome Mansoor to the Hokie family!
