With fall camp starting up for the Virginia Tech team, it is important to not forget about the last summer month of recruiting. We will look over some of the top headlines heading into the thick of this month:

New Crystal Ball - This Thursday we saw 247 Sport's Evan Watkins place a crystal ball pick for CB Mansoor Delane in favor of the Hokies. This is huge, considering that the 2022 CB was slated for the Maryland Terrapins for the longest time. It is now seeming that the Hokies are the team to beat in this recruiting battle. However, there is no official date set by Delane just yet, but would not be surprised to see a date announced soon.

Another thing to note in this situation is that Delane plays on the same 7v7 team as 2022 CB Cam Johnson, whom the Hokies are also hot on the trail for. There is a growing consensus that a teaming between the two in Blacksburg could be possible. Cam Johnson has made it clear though that he plans on taking fall visits to both Boston College and Virginia Tech before a final decision.

New Face in Virginia - Former Ohio State commit Benji Gosnell will be playing football at Carroll County High in Hillsville, Virginia for his senior season. This after he played his high school tenure thus far at East Surry High in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina. This is a meaningful bit because Hillsville is only about an hour drive from the town of Blacksburg. Not only will the Hokies have their eye on this high-potential target, but now he rests in their own backyard.

New Commit on the D-Line - This Monday the Hokies received their 20th commit of the 2022 recruiting cycle with DL D'Andre Martin. The Hokies won the recruiting battle of D'Andre Martin against South Carolina and Shane Beamer. Martin has yet to receive a true rating from the full group of all the recruiting sites. However, on 247 Sports, Martin holds a rating of an .8700 (3-Star), which would place him as the 6th highest commit for Virginia Tech in 2022. It is important to realize that Martin hasn't played at the defensive line slot for a while, it is merely his 2nd full season at the position this upcoming fall. Be sure to keep an eye on this 2022 commit as he gears up for the Life Christian Academy in the fall.
